The biggest and best UK garage mix competition is BACK for 2008!
Last Year
Last year SnF’s mix competition saw brothers Pressure & Listener come first and second in a tough competition. The judges were unanimous in their decision that Pressure had run away with it, getting top marks from all 5 judges.
By winning, Pressure picked up a night behind the decks at UK Flava in Camberley, his very own special of Control-S‘s smash hit ‘Never leave me alone‘ plus a few bits of vinyl from our sponsors Stereohype Recordings & Hairy Cuts. In addition to the great prizes he won, Pressure was also offered a chance to play at the SnF 1st birthday bash. Due to a scheduling conflict he couldn’t make it, so Listener stepped into the booth instead and wowed Herbal nightclub with a set that any red blooded UK garage DJ would be proud of.
So this year…
Think you can dislodge Pressure’s crown and take the title of Slick Mix Master 2008? If you do, here’s what you will win:
- Your very own dubplate special produced by Jelly Beats
- £30 of vouchers to spend @ DnR Vinyl
- The opportunity to have a full length mix featured on SnF
This year we’re keeping it tight but polite. The competition will a similar format – audio only, 15 minutes, any styles of UK garage you wish (which is open to interpretation). We’ve switched it up this year so that YOU get to decide the winner. The SnF judging panel will whittle down the entrants to the best 5, who will be put to a public vote shortly after.
All mixes will be made public after the competition so if you’ve got a gripe you can put it to your public and see how they feel.
How to enter:
To enter, you will need to send your mix via YouSendIt.com to slickmix@slicknfresh.co.uk
The Rules
- Your mix must be UK Garage. You can interpret this however you wish, just bare in mind the prime focus of this website leans towards a certain style of UKG and this may or may not be reflected in the judges taste.
- BPM must be constant. No jumping into RnB, ragga or Drum n Bass
- No dubs. To make this fair, all tunes played must be in the shops or available to buy on download now. Any unreleased tunes or personal dubs played will result in disqualification.
- Mixes must be anonymous. No jingles please. This is to prevent favourtism.
- Your mix MUST be live. If you are found to have edited your set you will be disqualified. We can always tell.
- Your entry must be solo. No MCs and no back-to-back mixes
- Mixes can be no longer than 15 minutes. This keeps the pressure on and makes judging easier and more accurate.
- Mixes must be in MP3 format. Please make sure your file quality is between 128KB & 192KB.
- By entering you agree to be bounded by the Terms & Conditions
How long have I got to enter?
Entries for this competition must be sent before 11.59PM, Saturday 13th December 2008. Once the initial judging process is complete shortly after, public voting will open for 1 week. The winner will then be announced straight after.
